Punjabi By Nature
Punjabi By Nature caters to the large number of offices in the vicinity with 24/7 operation. It is also catering to the evening dinners, old faithful of the Punjabi By Nature Trademark from Gurgaon and Delhi.
Due to the target client, a sobriety was to be maintained in design in house to many high profile working lunches, business meetings and office celebrations etc.

Given the brief for a 150 seater restaurant with the desired ambience, the space made available (appx. 3500 sft.) to design this contemporary Indian restaurant, was less. Furthermore it was profusely littered with columns and services.
The design approach was to carve out space in between this chaos. The area was divided by a series of articulated partitions to expand notional space and offer privacy simultaneously.

At the onset to distinguish this fine dining experience the designed signage was in wood to contrast with the high-tech feel of the office tower. Past the frameless glass door, royally decorated with a massive crystal handle ornamented with flowers on top, the reception is endorsed with a water curtain and a floating chrysanthemum trough, creating a magical ambience of tranquility. A travertino partition acts as screen signage wall.
Lighting was a primary strategy in creating this contrasting ambience from the hustle bustle outside. The travertine walls with the custom designed built in walls pick up the beauty of the travertine stone. The ceiling is of a series of varying punched out niches to maneuver interstitial spatial between the complex series of ducts and services for the whole building. This created lighting opportunities for the diners.

The partition separating the two dining areas conceals huge columns and at the same time carries a custom designed cotemporary version of a traditional opulent chandelier. The low height partition with soft light glowing in between the two glass panels carrying the silk mesh creates a halo like soft magical light.
The choice of meshed paper blinds diffuses the otherwise harsh light of the exterior into the entire front area and cuts the glare at night.
